I can't get my Canon CanonScan LiDE 400 flatbed scanner to actually scan something but using image capture. Which doesn't show up but in System Report it shows as being connected and also makes an auible sound when first plugged in. I tried a USB c cable from Anker and the supplied USB A to USB C cable from Canon and various USB ports and the Apple USB A adapters and Caldigit TSP 4 both USB types and nothing. Only in System Report it is recognized.

MacBook Pro M1 16 inch 2021
lastest MacOs Tahoe 26.2

any ideas?

I had a Canon LiDE 400 that just simply stopped working recently. Same issue as yours. I took a risk and bought a new 400 and it works no problem but something tells me the old one stopped due to some bug rather than it dying of old age (it wasn't that old).

It seems like its a bug then since it works fine in Windows 11 latest. but I might just invest in a new one anyhow.

Canon like dropping support by not updating or releasing drivers, so you could try Vuescan to see if that works.

If you are going to buy another scanner, choose a company that supports better e.g. my Epson V750 is still has a working driver & scanner software over a decade later.

thanks for everyone's input. I downloaded vuescan and it does work with the scanner but is there a way to use for free for awhile before I do the payment option?
