I just noticed this on my Mac and tried to get as good a photo of it as I could. What’re your thoughts? I’ve only had this computer 5 months and whether it’s dead pixels or scratches, this shouldn’t be happening this easily. Is there any chance this would be covered under my warranty and could be a free display repair? Also, is there anything in particular I should tell the Apple Genius Bar when I bring it in? Thanks in advance y’all!

The left one looks like some kind of dust particles and the right one is either not properly focused to tell what it is, or it's a small dust particle. I believe dust underneath display glass is always considered a fault by most manufacturers (?) and will be fixed. Each manufacturer have their own rules for dead pixels, though.

You think Apple would replace it even if there were surface scratches in that general area?

Those are display chips.

Yes, they shouldn't be happening so easily but they are anyways because of the thinner glass Apple is using.

No, you will not get a display replacement from Apple. You will at most get a free screen cleaning and that's that. They'll tell you to "just suck it up".

So you're just out of luck. Use a screen protector next time.

Oh, and wait until you get a very clear imprint of the keyboard and trackpad on the screen. That one is a sight to see and does warrant a replacement from Apple.
