i found a 20" aluminum cinema display for 150 bucks. i figure i'll hook it up to my mbp. should i go for it?
 
I say do it if its in decent shape and works without problems. You probably won't beat that deal anywhere else.

I wouldn't do it, I got ripped off for a 20" ACD and that was priced at $299.00 luckily I got my money back via Paypal claim.

I'd steer clear of it.

That seems like way too good a deal. Make sure you do a bit more homework on who's selling it, the condition it is in, etc before purchase.
 
its a local thing so i would get to check it out before i handed over my cash. he says there is a "smudge" mark that you can see when its off, but can't notice when its on

anything in particular i should check for? i figure i'll just plug it in and see what it looks like (i need the little adapter right?)

Scratches (screen and case), dead pixels, whether or not the ports work, whether or not the controls work, whether or not the backlight is good anymore...

Seriously, if he has another one, I'll pay shipping to get it wherever it needs to come from.
