Hey all,

I was looking into buying my first apple computer and somebody in my class gave me an offer and just sent me a description of a white Macbook he is selling:

"2gb ram 250 hd this is all of it
2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, NVIDIA Graphics
250GB Hard Drive, 8x Double-layer SuperDrive, 2GB 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM
10-hour Battery Life, Glass Multi-Touch Trackpad
13.3-inch (diagonal) LED-backlit glossy widescreen display with support for millions of colors"

He says that he will sell it to me for 525$... is this a good deal or should I keep looking? Thanks.

Yes, I believe so. Apparently it's the
"Apple MacBook MC516LL/A 13.3-Inch Laptop".

That's the current MacBook (white unibody) that goes for $999 new or $899 if you are educational discount eligible.

Worth it is subjective, however its nearly half off, so depending on condition, could be a good deal.

Also, I'd try to get the serial to check to see if it's still AppleCare eligible or already enrolled.

and of course make sure it isnt stolen and all that stuff. since you arent buying from an "authorized reseller"
you never know :p

Thanks for the advice everyone. That Mac2Sell advice was awesome, I just plugged in the numbers and it valued it at $460 and I guess that's assuming it's in good condition. Definitely will try to check the serial number as well. Haha and yeah gotta make sure its not stolen too.

if it's under warranty and is in good shape then i would argue that it is a good deal.

How are you going to make sure that it isn't stolen? AFAIK, there is no way to tell unless the seller tells you.

Yeah, I guess it could have some problems he's not telling me about, it could've been stolen, etc. I guess the smartest idea for buying a macbook would be to buy it from a legitimate place. Thanks for all the help. :)
