I am thinking about buying a used Sony HVR-M10U VTR. This will be my first VTR, and, naturally, I know very little about these things.
I cant seem to find reviews on this particular deck.
Also, I have know idea what acceptable hours would be.

The hours for this particular unit are as follows:

OPERATION 174 X 10H
DRUM RUN 19 X 10H
TAPE RUN 16 X 10H
THREADING 94 X 10

Help?

Ack. Meant to reply to this last night but forgot. Unless you know who you are buying the deck from I would be very wary to buy a used deck unless it was at a super low price. I'd buy a factory refurb, but I don't know if Sony does that. This probably goes double for the deck in question because it's basically an FX1 with out a lens so it has the less durable transports used in cameras as opposed to the more durable transports used in decks. Camera transports are basically designed to run at "play" speed 99% of time while transports used in decks are designed to for repeated shuttling, fast-forwarding and rewinding.
