I'm getting the macbook pro 15" from the online apple store for $2,165.34, which includes 2-3day shipping and tax.
Here are the specs:
2.53GHz Intel Core i5
4GB 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x2GB
500GB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400 rpm
SuperDrive 8x (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
MacBook Pro 15-inch Hi-Res Glossy Widescreen Display
Backlit Keyboard (English) & User's Guide
iWork preinstalled

Also is the AppleCare Protection Plan worth it? Is the coverage good or do they just refuse to cover the laptop a lot?

The Applecare plan is DEFINITELY worth it, as evidenced by a lot of the threads here. I would highly recommend getting it.

Ok, I will get the AppleCare Protection Plan near the end of my warranty on my macbook pro because after buying this, money will be pretty tight on me.

i would get the 2.4 instead. it is just .13 faster Which you will *never* notice. too expensive IMHO. or get the i7 instead. i think the i5 2.4 is the "sweet spot" though.
