he's asking $800

is this really good?

for someone going into audio production, would this be a better buy than a macbook?

It's definitely not bad - especially considering the AppleCare and the RAM and the new battery

The only thing is - for only a bit more you could get a Macbook! With Intel! So it's up to you...
