Because Apple is not having the free ipod promo for students in Taiwan, i was considering getting a refurb 2.53 umbp. In the US refurb store they were going for $1450 with 4gb of ram, 512mb of VRAM and a 320 gb hd.

They have been showing up once in a while on the refurb site.
On the Taiwan site they have what looks like the same notebook except the price is $2200.

All other prices on the two sites seem to be about the same after you convert and account for taxes.
There are some small weird differences that make me believe this is a mistake on the Taiwan site.
Here is what is strange on the Taiwanese refurb site:
it says the umbp weighs 5.4 pounds instead of 5.5 on the US site
it the umbp has 1 FireWire 400，1 FireWire 800 instead of just 1 firewire 800 like the US version. Does this look like a mistake to you? Perhaps this is the 17inch model and they mislabeled it a 15.4.

I should have mentioned this before. The price for the new version of the umb 15.4 inch 2.66ghz in Taiwan is less about $2120 (that is $80 less then the refurb price).
