Is this a sign of my XT 1900 going kaput

I have a MP 2006 2.66 that I originally install an XT 1900 in. Been playing Wow lately and a few times the screen went completely black and the only way to get it to come back was to reboot. I see there been other issues with the XT 1900's some with artifacts. Even thought I have the original 7300 in the closet for emergency back up I am thinking of pulling the trigger on a 3870 if the 1900 is getting ready to die.
