This is for my older brother's iPhone, which has never been jailbroken before.

He said last night the following occurred:

  • phone started playing random ring tones
  • contacts are mixed up, wrong name / phone number
  • 4 messages were sent out with jibberish to random contacts and replies to random e-mails

I can't seem to find anything on this. Anyone familiar?

Reset the phone and if it still does it take it to apple. Do not restore it and do not recover it to an old profile. This will give you an answer. Virus possible but highly unlikely. He would have to be very unlucky considering there arent many viruses for mac and even less for the iphone. I hope this helps. It should take quite awhile if you are resetting the phone correctly.

Oh by the way do you sync to a mac or a pc?
And are the contacts changed on the machine you sync to?

Its synced to a mac, 10.5 with the latest updates.

I'll report back after resetting.

Thanks,
