We have had 2 bomb threats within three days at my school... nether times have they called it a day but we had to go back in and continue school, not only that but if we have to evacuate again we have to make the time up in the summer! Its not our fault that some idiot keeps calling them in .

Im not mad about school not getting let out, im made that if we have a half day the 2 hours that is put to saving us is added on... Were still in school for the rest of the day (of the threat) so why add on to other days

I'd say the powers-that-be weigh the likelihood of a real threat against the possibility of somebody wanting to shut the place down, and are wary of rewarding such behaviour. Depends, also, if you are a student at Bagdad High or not.

1) Wouldn't you rather evac than die in a bombing?
2) Be happy that you have summers. Once you hit the workforce, there's no such thing.

I don't think its absurd at all...the school did the right thing in evacuating when the threat was called in, until such a time that the threat was evaluated either real or a fake. Once it was deemed a fake, what was the point in calling school? It was found there was no threat, so there wasn't really a reason to send students home. So they continued on. And the summer thing...the school, assuming you're in America, has to go 180 days. You still have to make up school when its called for snow or something, right? But its still not your fault it snowed a clear foot and its not safe to go to school. Yet you still have to make it up. This isn't much different.

Ya, im happy to get out, butt he first time we hung out on the inside for 2 hours, the second time we hung out outside for 2 hours being b****ed at for having a cell phone and asking what is goin on (i understand the whole dont get parents up there thing)... Its annoying being in the dark about stuff that affects your own wellbeing. Its like a docter performing a procedure with other consent.

by the way Im about 99.999999999999999999998% sure that the recent ones are just idiots tryin to look cool in front of their idiot friends

Yes they have to do 180 days but partial days count if they make it to lunch or start before lunch.

The extra day might very well be punitive to discourage such things in the future or to get the students to turn in the (ir)responsible party.

Not if he becomes a teacher.

Or a supreme court justice.

Idc about the day, but what I dont like is the hours that we take off for these things, get added back on to half days vacations and etc.

I agree. One day is a small price to pay for that kind of saftey eh, I would rather give up a day than the possibility of a bomb.

Whoa, back up. I thought that it was established that the school was evacuated, but once it was determined that there was no threat, school resumed. So what's the point of going home? There was no threat.

Ah, yes. The paradox of adolescence.

Perhaps if you kids would put your cell phones away when we tell you to you wouldn't have a way to phone in bomb threats.

Alas.
