iPod Is this an old idea ? (visual effects on the color iPods)

I am quite sure someone have already mentioned this before.

Does anyone know why there is no option for visual effects on the color ipods ?
Despite the fact this is completely useless, it is better than watching
videos on a small screen (which is what many people are willing to do someday).

Isn't this too difficult to be offered by Apple ?

The processing power involved with such a function would eat battery life, is my guess.
