So, it looks like in Snow Leopard they removed the Spaces feature where you can press the key you've assigned to Spaces, then move your mouse over a different space, and press the key again. This would take you to that space. For whatever reason, Apple decided to remove this feature. It's very annoying to have to click, when pressing the key would be so much faster. Did anyone else notice this?

Never used it that way, but SL has removed the 'arrow key' movement: ctrl-arrow key.

Rather annoying

I know exactly what you mean! The way I have it set up is to use the side buttons on my Mighty Mouse to activate Spaces. So in Leopard I would squeeze, move the cursor over to Space 6, squeeze again and bam I'm done. Now I have to click to switch. Very annoying.

Anyone have a solution to this?

For some reason, my assigned key, F6, does not activate Spaces anymore. I've been messing with it for a while now, but it will not work.

I have 10.6.1 installed, and I'm using a late 2007 2.2 GHz C2D SR MacBook.
Here are my settings in Preferences:
