I'm a first time iPhone user. I'm not sure whether my battery life is good or just normal, relatively speaking. Thanks. When I use my iPhone, I'm mostly calling someone or text messaging, or checking facebook, etc. 3G is off, location service is on, wifi is on all the time.

It's a iPhone 4s att 32G model.

I'd say average - above average.

Thanks! I'm glad to hear that. It's 4s att 32G model.

The Apple site states you should be getting about 9 hrs usage and you are at 7.5 and still have 12% more to go so I'd say you are right about there!
PERF!

How come your total storage looks like is 5.0gb?

Also I wasn't aware you could turn off 3G on the 4s. How do you do that?

Total Storage is the iCloud back-up,

We've had the ability to turn off 3G since iOS 2.0 or 3.0 (I forget),

Settings> General> Network> 3G Off

Does it last you until you get near somewhere convienent to recharge your phone? If so does the time in between charges satisfy your needs. Only you can decide if the battery life is good for you or not.

Are you on 5.0 or 5.0.1?

I just see a switch to turn off cellular data so basically you are either on wifi or nothing. I thought I read around here the 3g off switch was removed on the 4s. Am I missing something?

They removed the ability to turn off 3G on the 4S. Apparently the new antenna design or chipset makes it so that you couldn't isolate the 3G/2G. Only the 4 and below has the ability to turn off 3G.

I wish I could turn 3G off on my iPhone but Verizon doesn't have that option. The best I could do is turn off data all together and that sucks. Anyways.. That's GREAT battery life. Majority of us would love our iPhones even more if it gave us 2 days of battery life ;).
