Check out this eBay item:

The guy is offering 3G iPhones direct from the factory. He says they are naturally unlocked, I assume he means that they have never been locked to any network, although I have emailed him to confirm this. He seems to be a trusted eBay member. What do you think? I didn't think it was possible for anyone to get direct from the manufacture, or does he have really special "contacts"?

NO LOL

If ypu look at the ebay bidding end date, it is past the july 11th release date. I'm betting that he will get one for you at a store hoping you will pay a higher price assuming it is "unlocked".

Maybe thats the reason for: "Delivery: This phone comes direct form the overseas factory. Please allow 3 to 4 weeks for delivery. "

Yeah, im aware that it takes him 4 weeks to deliver, but I would pay a premium if it is really an unlocked iPhone that could be upgraded. I just wasn't sure if such a thing ever existed. Surely the phones must be unlocked when they come out of the factory? There were those legit unlocked ones in France...

He could be getting italian ones, but £299 is cheap for that... Also "You are responsible for VAT and Customs Fees." - Shipping within europe isn't subject to Customs, so they're coming from outside...

The kicker is this statement: "(Please be advised that not all mobile networks support iPhones in the UK )" Which ones? The only one that didn't work with the 2G was Three, and that's because it's a 3G-only network.. it should work OK with the 3G. Or is that a roundabout way of saying "Locked to O2" :p

Makes me wonder if he's selling HiPhones...

Or maybe he needs 4 weeks to hope for a way to unlock it.

lets see how many muppetss hand over money to this guy like ohmac lol noobs never learn!

SCAMMM

written all over

Yeah, thats what I think. Im just asking him lots of awkward questions and seeing if he has the answers. I have asked him for a copy of someone else's shipping conformation to prove he is actually drop shipping the iPhones. :D

Yeah - send him your money. I the meantime I have access to a Nigerian bank account with over $25m in deposits but I do need your help to get the money out of the country . . . . . . [refer to your email client's spam folder for further details]

He seems to have a good eBay record.

Slight problem with that one too...

He freely admits he's not sourcing these from the UK, but still getting locked ones:

"Unlocking:

I will post iPhone 3G to you in mid- July. If I can unlock by then i will, if not I will either hold onto the phone to unlock it or forward the unlock software to you as soon as it is available......the choice will be yours."

So there's a reasonable chance of ending up with a phone locked to a foreign carrier. OTOH the guy is at least upfront about it.. which is unusual for an ebay seller.
