iPhone 5 here running iOS 6.0. Is the battery life ok so far? I'm wondering which iOS version has the best battery life for the iPhone 5?

How long the battery lasts has more to do with demand and not the OS. While some gave a little more, getting an older OS installed is near impossible.

Poor reception is a big killer but the number one power user is the screen backlighting. After that the CPU and cellular radio are also big users.

It is also possible your battery is not as good as it was when new.

You'll NEVER get better battery life on your iPhone 5 than you're getting with iOS6! Fact.
Upgrade at your peril.

I love when people on the internet say 'fact' yet they don't add any proof of said 'fact'

It's kinda obvious that the o/s that came with the phone will perform best, no?
From personal experience owning the i5, battery life was much worse with iOS7, and I can't see iOS8 giving better battery life than iOS6.

Well you can't install iOS 7 so that's irrelevant.

Your only options are to stay on iOS 6.0 or update to 8.1.3. For your iPhone 5, you'll probably have better luck battery wise staying on iOS 6.0.

I know. That's BS isn't it? If I could, I'd install iOS 7.1.2. on it and call it a day.

Perfect example of how future iOS updates ruin the phone in almost every single way. This is why any iPhone 5 user should not have upgraded past 6. OP, your one of the smart ones. Don't be foolish and upgrade.

Yes. Apples to Apples, the 6 Plus would still get better battery life.

It's has a much larger battery, so clearly that's the case. Certainly not apples to apples really.

Correct, but I was answering the OP who asked if his battery life rivaled the 6+.

Hope that clears things up. :)

Given various numbers people report in different threads for their 6 Plus phones, it certainly seems like it can rival some of them.

That's good news for the OP. Appreciate your thorough follow ups. :)

I guess this isn't to bad. I wonder if this can compete with the iPhone 6 Plus? Hmmmm.

Obviously it depends on your usage, but 7 hours of use is pretty good for an i5 or a 5S. Some people get no more with their iPhone 6 (not the Plus). The Plus has a much bigger battery and is good for 10+ hours.
