I just bought an iPhone 5 SE and have been taking a lot of 1080p 30fps videos with it. I use dropbox on my phone to sync everything with my desktop.

I've noticed when going in to watch the videos (in LAN VLC) that the quality is not quite what I expected. Lots of blur, what appears to be cross-hatching and grain. It looks fine on my small iphone screen, so I'm trying to figure out what gives. There are no filters or effects active in VLC, and the video looks the same in different players.

My wife has an iphone 6s and the quality is a little better, but not as sharp as a lot of the user submitted "iphone video" footage online. Any thoughts, tips, advice?

Thanks in advance

Just from first glance - you are in doors - with not particularly good lighting - so to be expected iMO

I do have some footage, albeit not on hand, from outdoors in a well lit area and it's not significantly better.
