On top of a mountain
Hi,
So a friend of my son wants to sell him an old iPod touch 2G (8GB) for $10. However, the glass is cracked and the headphone jack is pretty messed up. If he were to get it, has anyone tried these repairs? The parts total would be $18.

Thanks!
Devix

Id say its a good deal but the headphone jack is difficult to replace as it is soldered on. The screen is easy but when removing the old one make sure to pry the glass, note you will crack it even more, but if you pry for the metal you will bend the casing.

the screen i here is an easy fix, the headphone jack, not so much. though you could just buy some bluetooth headphones to use since the headphones are messed up. as the 2nd gen IPT has the bluetooth chip inside.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPod; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8C148 Safari/6533.18.5)

replace the screen and use the ipod as a gaming device. it's 10! well worth the trouble JUST for the games alone.
