Hello,

I have come across a refurbished MacBook Pro laptop with the following Specifications:
Display: 15-inch LCD
Processor: 2.16GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
System memory: 2GB
Hard drive: 120GB
Optical drive: DVDRW
Sound: Speakers, microphone/headphone jack
Network: Integrated 10/100 LAN
Operating system: Apple OS X Tiger

for a little over $1000. Assuming this laptop works, is this a good deal? I am a new Mac user wanting to change from a pc.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Thank you!

When was it manufactured? It helps to know the CPU and platform type

I believe the computer was made in 2006.
All the specs that I have are listed in the email.

Thanks!

I'd say no. It's a perfectly reasonable computer that will meet most needs, but I'd opt for a newer model. It's amazing what older macs still sell for. For $1299 you can have a much more recent MBP from the Apple refurb store when it pops up. Considering you're going back a number of iterations, I'd say it should be under $1000 easy.

+1 for the unibody...

buy a base unibody with almost the same specs for $899 in apple online refurb store and upgrade the RAM or the HDD according to your needs...or you can also buy a new external display if you need bigger screen...

buying from apple refurb store gives you the normal 1 year warranty...and its also checked for any damages(as its refurbished)...it would be better if you buy unibody 13inch...cheers and good luck!

:)

Thanks everyone for your input. I will take your advice and not get this computer!

Have a beautiful day everyone!
