or MacBook Pro 15 Inch LED
2.5 Ghz
250 GB HD
4 GB Ram

$1300 good Deal?

It is a great deal.

But remember to try it before you buy, there may be issues with the computer.
Be safe, should you decide to buy, do the deal in a public place

That deal is too good.

There's two likely scenarios:
1) It's stolen
2) During the transaction you're surrounded by five people twice your size, they take your money, and then the macbook.

i sold my mbp in a starbucks. Great place to meet by the way.

See the Craigslist section of this MR Guide

If the person is out of town, or proposes to ship the machine -- RUN AWAY.

Also Google for key words of the ad -- chances are you'll find the same ad or with small variations in dozens of Craigslists.. sure sign of a scam.

Remember that any new Macintosh offered at more than a 10% discount from Apple's price is more than likely not new, or stolen, or is an outright scam.

Take this deal carefullly, it is likely to be a scam. As others have said, if you are truly interested, bring somebody you know along with you, and make the deal in a public place, preferably a place with security cameras that can get cover the transaction fairly well.

Yeah, exactly where did the marketplace go??
In an effort to clean up the marketplace and make it a better and more trustworthy place for transactions, for users to be able to see that it exists, they have to have at least 250 posts (user title 6502), and have been a member for 180 days.

  • at least 250 posts in other MacRumors forums (in which posts count). This equates to user title 6502 or above.
  • to have been a MacRumors member for at least 6 months (180 days)

Thanks for the info. That sounds pretty reasonable I guess but I feel like people who have been members for almost 4 years like myself really should have been allow in. I guess 250 posts isn't really that high though. Too late to complain anyway since they already changed it.

Maybe you should just report it, lol.

Either that, or get to the spot with a couple o nines and grab the heat out your whip when they walk up.

I've been looking on craigslist just for fun for about a month (at mac pros, power macs, and mbps) and the majority of the "good deals" are usually scams. In particular, alot of people like to tell you to send payment to some UK address before you even agreed on buying the thing.

Bottom line: most of them are scams or bad deals so be very careful, especially when you're probably dealing in $1000 cash instead of other forms of payment that offer insurance etc.

They are mostly scams like this one:

And these 2 are really interesting because they are 2 posts with the same exact pictures:

Something like this could be legit; the poster agrees to let the buyer inspect it...

God I hate Craigslist...I really do. Its such a sketchy site, everytime I see it I cringe. I never buy anything off it.
