I got a refurb macbook pro 13 and everything works flawlessly but im wondering if the battery life is normal. I calibrated it and it appears I get no more than 3-3.5 hours if i use youtube, browsing and word doc on 40% brightness and no more than 4 or MAYBE 4.5 hours with 30% brightness and very light usage.

Battery cap is 5700 or so. What is the consensus for expected realistic battery life here with users of the 2010 mbp 13? I did a search but its impossible to find that info esp with the different years of MBPs

Have a look at Activity Monitor ( Applications / Utilities /) and select All Processesand sort by CPU to see what the culprit may be.

image below uses sorting by CPU as an example

This should answer most, if not all, of your battery questions: Apple Notebook Battery FAQ

Youtube= flash. Flash = processor intensive as the port to OS X suck. Processor intensive = more power needed = battery guzzling whore.

I don't think anyone in the real world gets the 10 hours that Apple quotes.

My computer is quoted at 8-9 hours, I usually get around 5-6
