Picked up my White 4S today and love it, except for two problems (images below). It seems that the front cutouts are slightly misaligned. Is this normal, or should I make an appointment with Apple to get a replacement?

1) Home button square is not centered.

2) The cutout for the speaker grill is not centered.

wow I thought I was bad, but your home button looks a little off :p

They're both centered. What you're seeing is the shadow on the actual white part of the phone under the glass. It's an optical illusion.

Check the speaker grill again, at first sight I thought it was misaligned too, but as it turns out its the shadow from the glass counters. Btw, I don't see anything wrong with the home button!

It's not off, that's a shadow. If you look closely the glass itself is not white, there is a layer of glass and then the white coating. What you are seeing is a shadow/distortion around the cutouts because of how the light goes through and hits the white layer.

My white iPhone 4 looked like that, as does my 4S.

Thanks, all. After reading your comments I played with the lighting a bit and now see that it's just the shadows.

No problem. This being my first iPhone I thought the same till I flipped it around and saw it was just shadows.

It's a shadow, when the iP4 in White came out I went through a few units and they were all the same including all on the shop floor at two separate Apple stores and those sent by the executive relations chap.

At the time, I showed the issue to a few non-techie folk who couldn't see where I was coming from so I'm glad you've created this thread.

I have the White iP4S and it's the same.

Don't worry about it :D
