My neighbor just got a brand new top of the line iMac. Anyway, I was over testing it out, and I ejected a CD, and it popped out of the slot, like POP and shot a good 4 inches out of the drive and onto the floor. In a perfect world it should just pop out but stay in enough to hold itself in the slot or something. As it is, you gotta have your hand up there to catch it.

They normally do what you said would be ideal. I'd like to the see CD-shooting iMac, i think i could make a pretty funny short movie about it.

I think this would make a great home-defense option. Get a ninja star, slide it in, and if you are ever attacked, press the Eject key!
:)

Nah, take it back to Apple or have them come to you if you bought AppleCare.

Apparently nobody noticed that I said it was my neighbors computer, lol. And she doesnt own it, her son teaches at school, and he gets to borrow one of the schools computer lab iMacs for the summer, so he did and gave it to her, since he already has one. She has to give it back in Sept. Lolzorz. Cant complain about something thats free.

lolorz indeed....

Have you got any way of getting some footage of this? It sounds quite funny :)

How old is the iMac? My wife and I have had the same thing happen...99% of the time it does what's ideal...but occasionally it shoots it out like that. It seems like it's become more frequent as it's gotten older, but that may not be true...

Brand new I believe. Its the latest model, and doesnt have a blemish, so its gotta be uber new.

If it was a Windows XP install CD, it's perfectly normal
:)
