Is this normal?

So have an ip4 latest os. When i am in the car with my ip4 plugged into my head unit via usb so its charging. I will have trapster and ipod open nothing else. Windows usually down on the highway its around 100 outside but iphone is in the shade(pocket under the radio). The phone still functions fine but the backlight will quit coming on and usually wont until a hard restart or plenty of time unplugged. Anyone else having similar issues or be able to tell me why its doing this. Trying to avoid a refurb because i dont want to buy another wrapsol skin for it.

Well the temperature combined with that wrapsol skin properly doesn't help:

I am sorry i should have mentioned it happens with the windows up and ac on. Just happens more in the heat

most likely due to the heat or sun exposure...

you should see the iPhone screen in -40 weather...

BTW after looking around through the apple database found

Basically says when it gets too hot it tries to lower the temp on its own and dimming the display is one of them.
