hi there, Just got my red touch 64gb and planning to get the iphone5 64gb as well. The touch would be primarily for music and a few apps while the iphone5 would be for those apps that need constant connection (ie. emails, etc). I love taking pics and shooting videos. Was wondering who else has the same hardware and what is your usage like? I might get the mini as well (if it's true! I have the ipad2 but my 2yr old already claimed it).

I don't get what's the point of having all these same like devices..... Just wondering though cause I don't get it!
 
I always thought the point of the iPhone to start with was to cut down on the amount of devices you carry with you. So no, no iPod Touch. I can see a nano or shuffle for working out and even a classic for long trips but a Touch just seems redundant and pointless.
 
Like Kittytoy I prefer 1 device (64GB iPhone 5) that has 30 odd GB of music, 10GB of video and the rest is apps and a few GB spare. that way i have 1 permanently connected device with all the info I want on it. Sure I have bore than 30GB of music, but I may listen to 1 or 2 albums a day, even 10 if in the shed on my Christmas Lights, but thats only a few GB worth per day.

It's no big deal to swap about music as I feel like it, but since I have the room I keep whole artists rather than just the 1 or 2 albums per artist on it that I regularly listen to.

I find owning an iPhone and an iPod Touch completely pointless.

What I could see being a good option for if you have a lot of music though, and lets say you want it for in your car to hook to the stereo or for jogging, working out, etc.

Get your iPhone and buy a used older gen iPod that has much more storage, for wayyy less money. Use one of those with the click wheel for your big music library.
 
From my own knowledge, 64GB is a lot, even after some deduction from the size of the operating system itself. You need to make sure you really need it before purchasing, i guess. For me, I'm still using my white iPod Touch 4G 32GB, and I have just exceeded half of the storage with my whole music library (~1.5k songs, very little i know). So if you don't have that much songs, i think 32GB should be fine.

Why another 64GB iPhone 5? People normally get that much storage for music as well, because apps do not normally take up that much space even when you have a lot of apps... Essentially, all this depends on the number of apps you have, and the ones you actually NEED as well. I suggest you consider these options carefully before making any purchase, after all, it's your own hard-earned money and you should plan it properly to avoid any regrets.

Yes, appears to a bit of overkill. I use a shuffle for running and the gym. My 64gb iP5 does everything else. The iPod touch is a redundant coupled with an iPhone. YMMV

Thanks Beeplance. I'm actually contemplating a 32gb as well. I would use the touch for storing movies also...

Thanks Southernboyj. I do have an older 5G ipod video (30gb) but that has been relegated permanently to the jbl speaker because of battery issues...
 
So is the point of this is to fill the iPod Touch with games and entertainment?

and have an iPhone for important apps?

So the real deal with wanting an iPod Touch and an iPhone is because of GB space if I'm correct.
 
Dude, I'm doing the Touch and the iPhone tandem too, and it works so well. I do it for 2 reasons; seperate work (iPhone) from play (Touch), and cut the single point of failure from the equation. I'd be devastated without either device. My 64gb Touch only has a few apps & vids, it's mostly music, and it's almost filled (<3gb remaining). My iPhone only has 10 playlists worth of music, everything else is app related (<6gb remaining). I will probably get the new Touch. I am stuck waiting for the 5s or whatever the next gen is called. I was a little bummed that the Touch didn't get an upgrade to 128gb. I understand why it didn't, but I'm not pleased by it.
 
I have my iPhone which is my lifeline and everything device. iPad for when ill be doing a lot of browsing etc and I don't want to carry my mbp. And a first gen nano for when I just need music, and no interruptions

Why spend all that money when the iphone can do everything the other ones can. I can only see an advantage in having a nano if you don't want to use your phone at the gym, or play sports that require the portability of the nano.

But it's your money.

thanks mlmwalt. that's actually what i'm planning to do! touch for the music, games and videos...iphone5 for everything else...

thanks novemberwhiskey. the touch was a gift from my wife. i don't like the nano though...but thanks for the suggestion. the iphone is a gift to myself:D
 
Personally, after having an iPhone, iPod touch is useless to me. I have an iPad 2 and iPod nano (the one you can turn into a watch) and I haven't touched these 2 devices in months.

I carry a blackberry and an iPhone. The only time I'm bringing all my iDevices with me is when I travel and for most of the time, I only use the iPod. The iPad is more for browsing and stuff.

Thanks moosquared. I currently carry the same - bb and iphone. And yes, when I travel I carry all those other ios devices with me. That nano is nice. I don't like the new one.

What? Why did you post this? You don't really care about how other people use their devices, you just wanted to brag about how much money you spent on ******** you won't even use. How conceited can you get? This post was cancer all the way through but then my head exploded when you said your ipad 2 was claimed by your "2yr" which I'm going to assume means a 2 year old child since your grammar/spelling is below the 1st grade level.

Obviously nobody in real life wants to listen to this **** so you come to brag about stuff no one cares here. Next time ask an actual question.

You may not care, but others do. This forum's not just for you, you know. Is there a rule that says you must explicitly ask a question in a post? Others may be in the same position, that's what the OP is inquiring about.
I would hardly call spending $1,000 something to brag about anyway.
 
You do know your iphone will play music and games don't you?

Why not just use your iphone for everything? Why have a seperate device?

If you want to prove to everyone that your super rich and love your apple stuff why not buy a wood burning generator to power your house and burn $100 bills to power it. Surely that's a much bolder show of status?

Oh no! I have 64gb itouch but I need a 64gb iphone 5 which are identical devices minus the phone. Such a hassle, wat do guyz?

Aww how cute my 2 year old is playing with my $800 ipad2, guess he's "claimed" it now. Hold on I'll be back soon, my wife's calling me for dinner. We're having diamond soup hand mined by the most malnourished of African children with a side of panda ribs.

Aquaboi924 (which sounds like some mid-90s european porn actor's name) is just bragging about a non-existent problem to show us how much cash he can throw around.

I'd rather have iPhone 5 and mini iPad, assuming that is released.

Little less portable but probably better for gaming.
