For those of you who don't know, you can send text messages over AIM by typing in a phone number, I'm sure there are other services that perform this also..

Would it be possible, (Assuming a Jailbroken Phone) For someone to hack the functionality of the SMS App, to first attempt to use a network to send the text message over AIM, and only if that fails use the normal way it does to send text messages. Effectivly giving you unlimited outgoing messages..

Humor Me, as I'm no expert on SMS, GPRS etc...

Is this Possible, too Far out, or just a matter of time?

Nope - with iChat the AIM > SMS translation is done server-side, not by your local application. If and when we get an iPhone iChat app, then it'll be possible to do things the same way, but in the meantime you won't be able to get the SMS app to talk to AIM - the protocols are entirely different.
