Hey folks

I have an external hard drive of 1TB, which I partitioned and use 600 GB for back up and 400 GB as storage ( WIndows format).
after using it for a while the backup is growing more than 600GB. Now is want to use the other 300 gb from 400gb( which is basically empty).

can i do that and reprogramming the harddrive so it will become one drive?

yes in diskutil, remove the 400 partition then grow the 600 to 1000
I did that for my time machine external disk last week, I did not lose data
