I'm using iPhoto versoin 6.0.6. When I plug my camera up to my computer and iPhoto opens, it tells me "There are no items to import", but only when the memory card is in. Pictures that are on the camera's internal memory show up with no problems. Does this sound more like an issue with the SD card, or iPhoto? (I've been importing photos from the card plenty up until now, and it suddenly started with this.)

I'm guessing that you can still see the photos on the camera, right? What about opening Finder and looking at them that way? From my limited knowledge it sounds like the SD card. You might try finding a cheap SD card drive and use that to import any photos or at least to troubleshoot the card.
