Hi- it's been a long time since I posted and I missed you all.
OK- here it is:
Have old HDD in external.
New SSD is in computer.
Using disk utility to clone from old HDD in the external to new SSD inside the comp.
Here is a pic.
Is this what I want?
I originally backed up to time machine, put new SSD in, ran comp holding command-r but got the "no enter" sign. So comp is running from the external, copying itself to SSD inside comp.
