Is this screen crack normal?

I don't know if there is a soft spot on the screen or something, but i dropped it from waist height and THIS is what happened it was on concrete, is it normal? It was just ONE drop, coming out off the apple store, took out of my pocket, and dropped, nothing else, wasn't to hard either, a normal drop, which happened to me many times my older Iphone. BUT THIS ONE IS NOW SHATTERED! is the screen so damn weak now?!!
