I want to buy a MBP, the seller is asking 1500. My only concerns is that it only has 1 gig of ram, and its a 2.0 dou core, not a core 2 duo, is this worth the price. MY other option is a new 2.1 macbook with 2 gigs of ram.

BTW the warranty has run out, so I can not get apple careis and there is a small dent on the cover.

It doesn't seem like a horrible idea to buy it, but unless you need the dedicated GPU for something (games, 3D design, you get the idea) you'll be fine with the MacBook, which is undoubtedly faster in non-3D intensive things.

You can get the Core 2 Model for $1,499 refurbished and the latest Santa Rosa one for $1,699.

Agreed. Seeing as how there is no Applecare, there is a dent, and that for the same price you can get a better machine (with a random chance of upgrades), the refurb site is much better deal.

lol.

I have a Core Duo 2.0 that I got from the apple refurb site directly over 7 months ago for 1349....

That guy needs a reality check. He is charging way too much for that thing. A dent and no apple care? Is he nuts? WITH apple care and everything I payed just around 1650 total for my whole system.

Crazy. My bf got his 2.16 CD 2 months ago on clearance for 1229... That comp is worth maybe... 1200.

i ordered a core duo or core 2 duo on apples website for 1500 on thursday. I just looked at the big specs, and snatched it up before anyone else did.

within an hour the two 1500 mbps were gone out of the refurbished store. I really acted fast, but i know it will be worth it.

You can get the latest SR MBP 2.2Ghz 2GB RAM 120GB HD for $200 more ($1699 refurb).

That MBP is worth $1100 - $1200 at best.
