Yeah, it looks like you won't find that monitor for more than a few dollars less anywhere. FWIW, I have really enjoyed my Samsung monitor and would not hesistate to recommend them to others. Besides, $175 is a more than decent deal for a 17" LCD of a lesser brand!
 
i know this is asking for way to much, but damn do i wish it had digital! :(

Yeah, I know what you mean. I went through the same thing when I got my LCDs (I ended up getting digital ones). Not having DVI is the price you pay for not paying a high price if you get my drift. Bumping up to something digital is going to increase your cost by a fairly significant amount if you want a reputable brand. :(
