I get $400 for phone.

I get the pro. 256. With Apple care.
1348.00 -400.00= 948.00 + tax 111.21

I have to make initial payment of $150

39.49 a month x 12 = 473.88. So for me to upgrade next year. I will have paid $623 to use the iPhone pro for a year. Am I missing something ?

I’m debating so this is serious Q

I’ve done this exact same breakdown, I have the same iPhone X 256GB.
Two other things to think about if you plan on getting Apple TV+ whether you get the phone or not, you will save $60 for a year by getting the new iPhone. Also, if you have the Apple Card, And buy it through apple, then you will get another 3% off the purchase price. However, if you buy through a carrier you need to add $30 or so for the “activation fee” unless you plan to sweet talk them into waiving it.

With my experience, I paid full price for the iPhone and then in a separate transaction I was given a credit for the trade in. I don’t live in a state that has sales tax so the math was the same either way.
