I agree, I'm actually not going to buy the RAM in the original post - I hate rebates.
As for the G Skill ones, I sorted by "lowest rating" in the customer survey for that particular RAM, there were three people who said it didn't work in their Mac Mini... considering that's what I have, I wouldn't want to chance it. Honestly I don't mind paying even $50 or $60 for RAM - I just want something with a lifetime compatibility guarantee/warranty.

Do you know of any brands/suppliers that have a "customer is always right" policy on ram?

In those 3 reviews (I read them too) they were talking about the G4 Mac mini and the Core Duo Mac minis. But the other reviews I was talking about said that it worked in the Core 2 Duo Mac mini just fine.

Get the difference?

I just ordered 4 gigs of OWC for my mini (yes I know it'll only recognize 3). $100 isn't that bad and I've had good luck with their RAM.

I hate rebates, too. You can buy the same "PerfectMatch for Apple" sticks
directly from Mushkin -- $27 per stick, with no rebate foolishness.

I bought 4GB directly from Mushkin -- after a 'very good vibes'
experience with a pre-sales tech question phone call.

...they even have PEOPLE answer the phone.

owc - customer service/warranty experiences?

From what I read they're reputable and they do have good warranties for their products. Unfortunately I couldn't say much more than that since I haven't had anything of theirs go bad on me. I've used their RAM in my mom's MBP, my MBP, a MP that I just sold and I have some on the way for my mini as well.

I looked for info about their (owc) warranty - can't actually find much - but does advance replacement mean what I think it does? If so, I am sold... unless some people want to share bad experiences with me.

Yip, it'll work, you just won't get 4GB, you'll get 3GB. But getting the 2x2GB set vs. the 2GB+1GB set, the 4GB wins in speed.
I'm thinking of doing the same thing...

i just ordered 2x2gb sticks from Mushkin for $108 plus $8 FEDEX 2day air delivery.

lifetime warranty and 30 day satisfaction policy.

i'll return the 2x1gb kingston sticks i got at compusa.

Aren't the OWC 1+2=3gig sticks matched? It says so on their website. I assumed that meant they would run as fast as a 2x2=4gig matched setup. Since I have the weaksauce gma950 gpu, this is of relative importance to me.

matched means both are the same size ie. 2 + 2

Went with the OWC $50 2x1gb set. That way, I'll have a few bucks left over for that bluetooth keyboard

Mushkin is great, ordered memory at 4:50pm and got tracking number at 9:00pm
will be here 12/12

I'm curious if i will notice any difference between 2gb and 4gb ?

Apparently one thing you will notice is that you can only use 3 GB of that 4 GB in a Mini.

Stolen from another forum:
'If you have a Core2 chip, max RAM is 3GB. You can use either 1x1GB + 1x2GB (cheaper upgrade), or 2x2GB to get the dual channel speed boost, but only ~3.2 GB will be recognized. This is due to the 945 chipset using a 32bit memory controller.'

Oh I'm not chastising you for getting it, I'm just giving you a friendly heads up and (hopefully) clearing up any confusion.
Most likely you wouldn't notice anyway since all the OS X tools will tell you it's 4GB :)

it only cost me $40 more than the 2gb so even if it doesn't make much difference I'm not out much.

i'm just havin fun playing with my mini :)

i plan to order the Lacie 500GB base tomorrow
and make it a two story mini LOL
