All the zombie idiots that blindly hail other devices (N95, elcrapo 2000, etc.) as "better" purely because of what they read off of a specs sheet will be eating a healthy dose of crow in a year or two when no one remember those devices and the iPhones is still devouring market share at a rapid rate.

I chose the iPhone to surf the web anywhere plus watch movies on a handheld. Having to enlarge web pages and then flip them is not my ideal. Just my personal opinion.

And the great thing is that it's pocket size. This product is not in any way an iPhone competitor. I didn't read if it has any expansion slots (although it's big enough!) so maybe you'll be able to add a 3g card, obviously it would stick out a bit but I'm guessing thet you are not too bothered by the bulk!

No prob, the 605 is nearly half the size

For me the killer app is the ability to surf the web anywhere plus watch movies. Also you do not have to resize web pages on a 7 inch screen.
I normally have a small shoulder bag and a Razr in my pocket.
It will be interesting to see how small gizmos pan out over the next few years.

there are 2 classes of small gizmos:

those that fit in your pocket and those that don't.

If its small but doesn't fit in your pocket, its no better than a laptop, and will never be in the same league as pocket sized devices.

XXXXXL Shirt and 64 inch waist?

:p

I agree with the above: If it doesn't fit in your pocket, it's in a different class. I had a Sony VAIO UX Micro PC, which is much like that second smaller Archos except with an even higher resolution screen and full Windows XP Pro installation. Before the iPhone, it was definitely the most incredible handheld device that I've ever used. It is very, very small for a complete full-functioning (and reasonably fast) Windows XP computer, but it was ultimately still too large to be any more convenient in practice than a regular laptop.

These just-bigger-than pocket size devices are much better on paper than in reality.

I think the lines have been drawn as far as portable gizmos are concerned. The laptop will rule the portable/bigger-than-pocket computer market and I think the iPhone has solidified the smartphone as the standard for pocket-sized computers. I think most of the pocket-sized electronic devices will start looking a lot more like iPhones over the next few years. I don't see tablets or or other mid-sized devices ever really taking off.

Is This The Future of Handhelds?

If this thing could surf the web outside of a hot spot on 3G, I would jump on it and leave phone calls up to a Razr. Steve you listening?

Thanks for listening Steve! :D

Totally agree. I *might* use a phone as big as an HTC HD2, but I think even that would get cumbersome. But really, if I want something bigger than the iPhone, it might as well be a laptop or similar device. I am not even sure I am an potiential iPad customer.

Agreed. A 4.3 inch screen the the HD2 has would be about as big as I would want on a carry every day device like a phone.
