So, now that I finally have my college email address I'd like to use its discount capabilities and get myself windows 7. only thing is, this version says upgrade in all caps. However, it seems like I can use it to do what I want, as it says one may do a clean install with it. Yes, no? Help.

unless someone can tell me how to get around this, it seems that this will not get me what i need.

i'm willing to try it, would be significantly cheaper. i think there would be a high success rate

Many folks successfully installed the previous student version without a hitch. At that time they weren't marketing it specifically as an upgrade even though that is what they were delivering.

As long as you are satisfied with the validity of your license, go for it.

success. used wine to get the installer to create the iso, then burned it, and i was home free from there.
