Is Time Machine backing up all of my files?

My HD is using 450GB of 900 GB available.
However, time machine is reporting that it has backed up only 260GB
What am I doing wrong that Time Machine is not getting all of my files backed up?

Are you excluding files or directories in the TIme Machine Preferences? Do you have a Boot Camp partition setup?

I have a boot camp partition - I excluded that from the HD size I mentioned. I am not excluding any files or folders. All I exclude is the boot camp partition and the external drive itself
