I use Time Machine (TM), faithfully back up to TM 2x/day. I also back up to .mac, and 2 external HD's, one a portable and one a huge 500 gig external.

Now I'm wondering if TM is really worth it?? It takes up an entire external HD that I could use on other computers, etc.

Curious as to others thoughts on the value of TM.

Thanks

Frank

Depends whether you back up any other way. Our work Macs are backed up nightly to our server using Deja Vu, so Time Machine is overkill there. I do use it at home, though, and find it pretty effective.

By the way - you don't have to dedicate an entire HD to TM - it will co-exist with other data. If you want to ensure it doesn't grab the whole volume, just set up a partition for TM
