Is Today Widget combined with Weather?

In my notification center I don't have a weather widget.

It says the Date and underneath has the weather. If I tap it launches weather app.

Clicking on Date does nothing. Shouldn't it launch Calendar app?

On Yosemite the weather widget is still there separate from Today widget.
So much for consistency.

it is a question because I no longer have a separate weather widget and wanted to know if others are seeing the same thing.

Huh? It's been like this since iOS 7.

In the today tab, there is the date. Below that (if you allow it), is the weather. Below that is the Calendar.

If you click the weather, it opens the weather app.

If you click an event it shows on your calendar for the day, it will open the Calendar app.

The "Today" tab is not a widget..it's a tab. On that tab are widgets. As of iOS 7 (and so far in iOS 8), those widgets are Weather, Driving time, and Calendar. Click each will open up the respective apps.

When developers begin to use the iOS 8 APIs, other apps such as SportsCenter, etc., will be able to add widgets to the today tab.

It's the same on OS X Yosemite.

The date doesn't take you to the calendar app. The date is not a widget. The calendar widget is there however.
