Is tracking my MBP possible (via GPS, Internet)?

There has been a series of thefts on my college campus and the thief is still out there. My roomates Logitech speakers got stolen, another friends laptop got stolen and I heard some guys 42" TV got stolen too!! I am being cautious until the cops catch this guy but I want to know if there is some way of tracking my laptop if it ever does get stolen. Kinda like the track wherever your friends are thingy on the iPhone.

I doubt this is possible, but you never know...

They make LoJack for laptops.

Or you could get some kind of GPS tracker chip, that allows you to track it from anywhere in the world. I know that these exist I just wouldn't know where to get one.

Maybe you should think about investing in a lock for your laptop, not too expensive.

If you're talking about dorm-theft, just make sure to put the MBP away when you leave...don't leave it out.

Put it in a locking drawer if possible.

Things like this don't work. Software solutions are useless to most people. It doesn't stop the laptop from being stolen. A quick hard drive swap at most and the laptop is untraceable.
