Is trimming a video really video editing? Apple mention this like its a big deal, and all you can do is trim a video clip right.

I agree. But there doesn't appear to be anything stopping you from "trimming" on 2 sides, so that's kinda editing.

Not really. I wish there were an option to trim clips and combine them using different crossfades. I'm not asking for filters or post image stabilizing or anything like that.

Setting an in and out and trimming a clip is basic video editing.

Obviously you can do a little more than that in Final Cut Pro, but trimming a video clip is video editing.

Dude it's on your phone, not a computer. What do you expect, iMovie '09? Just be glad that you can do it because it's definitely better than not having it at all.

Sure it is. It's not NLE like we know it, but it is editing. It's good for recording something, and then trimming exactly what you want on both ends, then recording something else.

i think it's pretty pointless. when i think editing, i think editing, not trimming. what's the point of trimming a clip to share right from my phone? chances are i'd want to combine multiple clips and/or add transitions. so if i were to record video on the iphone (doubt i will) i'd still edit it on my computer.

Hmm, is the video the same as before its trimmed? No. Therefore its edited.

It doesn't need to be snazzy effects everywhere for it to be edited.

You capture 15 MB of video, of which 2 MB are what you want, and the rest is crap. Trim it, save 13 MB of storage.

You capture another 4 MB of video, of which 0.5 MB is what you want, and the rest is crap. Trim it, save 3.5 MB of storage.

You capture another 10 MB of video, of which 9.5 is what you want, and the rest is crap. Trim it, save 0.5 MB of storage.

Get it yet? if not, keep going with the examples above until you realise why trimming is a really cool feature. You get rid of the fluff on the ends, keep what you want, and share it right away without the junk on the ends of the clip making it to YouTube. When you sync it with your computer, you then have nice clean clips that you can drop into iMovie and enhance.
