I have a PC with NO INTERNET CONNECTION, EVER, AT ALL.

I have a first generation 3g iPad.

My plan, once apples servers will allow me to download, was to dl the windows 7 iTunes 10.5 install in goodreader, sync with the pc and pull the exe from goodreader to the pc, install the new itunes on the pc, then sync/update the ipad.

Will this work?

What problems am I likely to hit?

How do I fix those problems?

Connecting my PC to the internet is not an option. EVER.

How are you going to download the iOS update after you install iTunes on your PC?

I thought this had to be downloaded through iTunes, which seems as it could be a problem if iTunes doesn't have a net connection.

You can download iOS5 from here https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1247406/ and copy it over to your PC the same way you are doing it for iTunes. The just follow the instructions below the links.

Still not 100% sure this will work as the install seems to go out to the internet back to apple for verification. I guess try it and see what happens.

I've been trying to update my iPad1 for the last few hours. I have the file downloaded but getting error that it failed to connect to apple restore servers.

These are the errors i get and this is after the file is downloaded and the update begins.

If I'm able to update at an apple store, what would I need back home to succesfully reync my music, apps, etc to the ipad?

That's correct, but you'll also have the option of going to the App Store and iTunes on your iPad and just re-download your purchased apps and music from there. Unfortunately, if you do it this way, you'll have to download them one at a time.
