Options are always nice. And I know I'll love being able to just lay my phone down by my bed side at night instead of fumbling around in the dark trying to attach my phone to the small connector. It's about time.

I don't see the appeal of wireless charging. It would be different if that means iPhone is completely water tight or it charges faster. How would you charge it in the car? What if it moves around and gets off the pad?

Whoa whoa whoa...

No need to get defensive people.

Obviously you are free to charge your phone however you like lol.

But if you're at your desk, isn't it better to have it in a dock so you can see notifications better? Since it is sitting vertical rather than flat?

It seems like there are many noteworthy benefits to using a dock.

You are aware that companies make wireless/fasting charging pads that allow the phone is charge at an angle right?

Edit: it's a nice feature that some will enjoy using and others can use docks etc as before

ALSO,

What if you want to use your iPhone while it's charging?

If you pull it off the wireless pad, will it still charge?

But if you pull it off the pad will it still charge? Like does it charge as long as it's in close range?

No, based on what was revealed yesterday it's the standard Qi wireless charging standard which only allows contact charging.

However you can still charge it with lightening cable as before

Lightening charging (with a cable) is still a included. Some modern/new cars have the option for wireless charging pads

Ohh I see so it DOES come with BOTH wireless AND wired charging. That clears things up. I don't recall Apple mentioning it has both features but then again I didn't watch the entire presentation.

Have you tried plugging in your phone to charge while piss drunk at 3am on Tuesday night?
Apple knows I will pee in to a kitchen sink and eat my pizza while still frozen. Apple is smart and would not want me to wake up to a phone with a dead battery.

;)

The last thing I'm thinking about at 3 AM drunk is charging my iPhone

Now I am curious! Is it about getting your bosses wife pregnant?

Actually, if the last thing someone is thinking about at 3 AM drunk is charging their iPhone, maybe wireless charging can help with that bc at least there could be a chance they'll place their phone on the pad...even just by sheer accident haha!
