Apple say not to do it because it can make the macbook overheat but its so comfortable and i dont really have a setup for it and i always end up using my desktop more because its nice setup and comfortable. Should i do this or not ?

Wear pants. They can get pretty hot, but as long as you aren't resting it on bare skin, you'll be fine.

Yeah i have pants on. But i do notice the heat :(.. Its just so nice just sitting relaxin with it on my lap.

Apple calls it a notebook instead of a laptop because of the heat/liability issues

I used to use my MBP on my lap all the time with no problem
Some complain of the heat, and it does get warm, but it never bothered me

If it gets too hot, let it cool

Yeah i was going to say im hardly going to use my MB while naked lol but i guess the poster was serious

No its not safe, it makes your little tadpoles swim backwards. Wear an electromagnetically shielded codpiece.

I found when using my macbook alum on my lap i have it sitting on one of them folders and it has good venting and then it will not burn your legs.

offtopic a bit

Buy yea it is safe to use it on your lap as long as soon as it gets to hot take it off your lap ;)

I love that picture above LOL!

I just use a laptop cooler.. cools the laptop and keeps the heat off you

I am actually naked right now, and my MBP15 is on my lap.

But the way I sit puts my knees under the back corners of the machine, and a large part of the bottom middle open to the air. In addition I use fan control, which I have set to keep my fan above 3000rpm and at idle my cpu stays around 45ºf. I have fan control so that the machine stays a little cooler (because heat is the enemy of electronics), but I used it without FC for a year or so and never burnt myself during casual use. I guess I did my gaming and video work at my desk though...

I've been told that the CD drive on my Macbook Pro isn't guranteed to work unless my computer is on a flat surface, and my Macbook Pro isn't guranteed to not overheat unless it is on a table.

Of course I fought with Apple on each insistance, but "Officially", the computer is meant to be used as a mobile desktop, not on your lap.

Actually, I use my laptop in bed at a 45 degree angle all of the time :)
