Is Verizon's total mobile protection insurance worth it?

I'm switching to VZ's single line plan today and ordering my phone. The Total Mobile Protection service is an additional $10 a month and says it covers lost or stolen phones, water damage, and post warranty defects.

I feel like I have heard people complain before that their insurance was worthless once something had happened to their phone and was a waste of money. Is this true?

They also have some other protection plans available from Asurion if anyone knows anything about that

It's worth it to me. Any phone defects are covered post warranty with free refurb replacements. No questions asked.

They are fine if your phone is lost or stolen/if your phone is destroyed. You still have to pay a substantial amount of money for the phone. BUt its like $200 instead of $900 or w/e.
