After eagerly awaiting the new MP like everyone else on this board, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that is confused. My question is if XP running on VMWare (Dragon voice, electronic medical record system, Firefox) as well as Mail, safari, MS Office on the Mac side, would be considered more of a single threaded or multithreaded system. I running this on a MBP 2.8 now and on the activity monitor, the VMware hovers between 50-100% CPU usage. I have the vmware set for 2 processors. I have a similar setup on a MP 1.1 (dual 2-2.66) that runs fantastic, much snappier with better voice recognition (the most important app for me since its accuracy is what I need). I don't pretend to be a heavy duty PS or FCP person but I do know that there is a huge difference b/w the MP and MBP. I'm trying to decide between the quad 2.9 or the octo 2.26. Thanks.
