It seems that the latest batch which has a new improved version of the screen on the 2014 13 inch models has a serial number that has the last number as 3 (meaning that there are letters after that, but that the last number in the serial is 3)

If you have a 2014 13 inch retina MacBook and have a serial number that last number ends in 3 post here and whether or not you deem your display as good.

3 here as well and the screen is bright, no yellowing, no pixel issues, no light bleed noticeable in the dark of my home

same here 13" i tested for IR and after 20 min no retention, and the screen is immaculate!

I have 3 as last number in SN, and screen is perfect.

:)

Anyway, about this number, OP how did you find out about this ?

So in the rMBP which screens are considered free of any yellow tint or backlight bleeding, LG OR SAMSUNG one's ? which displays are considered best for rMBP ?

Mines a 3 aswell, perfect screen. Whites are white, no image retention/ backlight bleed, and its bright.

I can't tell if its LG or Samsung. I ran the code to check what screen you have through terminal but nothing happens.

In order to check via Terminal, you must have a 15" rMBP with NVIDIA GPU, and the NVIDIA must be active.

That explains it. I have a Samsung SSD so chances are i have a samsung screen.

I have a 2014 rMPB 13" 2.6Ghz 256gb

Don't think having Samsung SSD increases or decreases the chances of having a Samsung screen. These are two totally different components, probably sourced from two different factories in different geographic locations.

My 2014 13" rMBP also ends in 3, but don't know what this means. Looks like all 2014 end in 3?

How to check a 15 inch rMBP without the Nvidia Card for the screen manufacturer who has made the display screen ?

You can't.

The only way would be to go to System Preferences → Display → Color.

Select on Color LCD and click Open Profile. Scroll down until you see Apple display make and model information. Click on it.

The model should be A022 or something like that.

13" rMBPs use A018 and A020.

So who makes the A022 models ? LG ? or SAMSUNG ?

screen is amazing.

funny how after you use it, looking at an air is now like looking at trash.

Same as my ipad air with retina and looking at the mini without it.
