is your app store indicating an update when there is none?

as the title suggests, my app store icon repeatedly informs me of an update (number in the upper corner). but when i open updates, there are no apps shown.

i poked around briefly and saw nothing, so forgive me if this has already been beaten to death.

I had this on my iPad 4 its a glitch, the explanation of it is: An app that requires the latest ios (maybe ios 7) has been updated but because you dont have at least that firmware it glitches like this!
