This is not a rant against the 470, for the most part, it's been a solid drive for me. Nonetheless, it's been splitting the performance between the fastest SSDs and mechanical drives, when the performance should be skewed towards the former. I suspect it may be Lion, but I'm not completely sure.

1) Programs don't launch as fast as I expect them to. The CS5 programs like Photoshop generally take a handful of seconds to open. InDesign is even slower -- it just took me 11 seconds, although it is usually faster. The light apps generally open quickly, but may need an additional bounce.

2) When I shutdown my computer, on occasion, a spinning black wheel will come on and it takes several seconds to shutdown. Is this some sort of delayed garbage collection?

3) When I awake my computer from a deep slumber, for a few seconds it is frozen but it always comes out of it.

Do you guys attribute this to Lion or are my expectations for a SATA II drive exceedingly lofty? According to all the reviews and thread I've read, the 470 should compare favorably to the fastest drives when it comes to launching apps.
