Anyone know of an app (preferably free) that'll make my built in iSight on my Intel iMac a security cam and will record when there's movement?

iAlertU, google that. you can turn it on and off using the Apple remote just like locking a car. even has the car alarm sounds. also takes a picture of the perp trying to steal your computer

EDIT: just noticed you said you had an intel imac and not a notebook... iAlertU is more for notebooks and sense when the notebook is picked up, not motion from a person. you can try searching for isight screensavers that will capture images and maybe there's one that will store the video too...

The ialertu is a decent app, but if your intention is to increase security then price should never ever been an issue.

I say security, I actually mean catching my flatmates snooping around my room and stealing my DVD's. And by stealing I mean borrowing and leaving around the house.

In that case, you might want to go with something like a small Logitech laptop camera, hidden inside of a VCR cassette tape or some such, connected via an extended USB cable to your Mac and running Evocam in a separate user account so as not to be visible.

Just an idea.

Haha, I think if I do that it would be overkill. A nice idea though. Hopefully this could lead me down the route of MI5. James Bond, you know...

SecuritySpy

I recommend SecuritySpy. I use it keep tabs on my dogs when I'm out. It has audio and motion detection, plus you can stream it and view it remotely say from work. Pretty cool app. Not free but definitely worth it. You can schedule it to record at certain times too. Very handy.

Hey, a nice app and very easy to set up. I got lost and bored with Evo Cam but will give that a go. Thanks everyone!
